Our primary focus has been raising funds for More Africa, a unique school in Tanzania founded by Ellen van Beers. This remarkable woman is passionate about educating children with various disabilities and has created an exceptional educational facility. We invite you to visit the website, www.more-africa.com, to learn more about this remarkable school and why we are so passionate about supporting it. More Africa moved to a new location and a beautiful new school in 2022. Please look at our pictures so you can view them for yourself or visit the More Africa website. The future plans are for an extension of the physical therapy and recreational services currently offered by installing a swimming pool. The children did have access to one at the previous location.
More Africa is quite unique in that it maintains guest houses to assist in the financial stability of the educational facility. Currently, the guest houses remain at the old site. Plans are for the construction of guest houses on the new property. However, plans are somewhat stalled. The cost of building new guesthouses has quadrupled in the last year, and funding sources are not as available. We will continue to support More Africa and endeavor to assist in supplementing funds for the swimming pool and contribute toward the construction of the guest houses.
As we continue to grow and expand our efforts, we are excited to announce that we are now in the process of supporting several special education schools in Arusha. We will update you with more information as soon as we finalize our plans. Thank you for your continued support in helping us ELEVATE the lives of Tanzania's disabled children.
We also assist parents and train community members who work with disabled children to improve access to education and services for this vulnerable population. By doing so, we strive to ELEVATE the lives of Tanzania's disabled children.
“Giving doesn’t mean that we are subsidizing the state of its failures. It amplifies the abilities & opportunities of communities.”
